The word “environment” is derived from the French word “Environ”, which means “to encircle or surround”.
Environment is a broad concept that includes everything affecting an organism during its lifetime, including social, biological, physical and chemical elements that together form natural and human-made surroundings.
It also refers to the total conditions surrounding a person at a given point in space and time and to the social, cultural and physical conditions influencing the survival, growth and development of people, animals and plants.
Under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, environment includes water, air and land, along with their inter-relationships with human beings, other living creatures, plants, micro-organisms and property.
Therefore, all the given statements describe aspects of the environment.

यह किसी निश्चित स्थान और समय पर मनुष्य को घेरे हुई कुल परिस्थितियों तथा उन सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक और भौतिक दशाओं को भी दर्शाता है जो मनुष्यों, पशुओं और पौधों के अस्तित्व, वृद्धि और विकास को प्रभावित करती हैं।
पर्यावरण (संरक्षण) अधिनियम, 1986 के अनुसार, पर्यावरण में जल, वायु और भूमि तथा इनके साथ मनुष्यों, अन्य जीवित प्राणियों, पौधों, सूक्ष्मजीवों और संपत्ति के पारस्परिक संबंध शामिल हैं।

Biotic factors include the living components of the environment, such as plants, animals and microorganisms.
Abiotic factors include non-living physical components such as temperature, light, water, air and soil.
Physiographic factors such as landforms, elevation, slope and topography are non-living physical features and therefore form part of the abiotic or physical environment; hence all the listed factors are included.
पर्यावरण को व्यापक रूप से जैविक तथा अजैविक या भौतिक घटकों के माध्यम से समझा जाता है।
